CBD oil is a common term used to describe many CBD products on the market today. What is CBD oil? How is it different from hemp oil? Is Danodan CBD oil, or something else?
What is CBD oil?
The term CBD oil has become a catch-all for most CBD products today. However, the term is more specific.
CBD oil generally refers to a hemp extract in an oil or other fat-based medium. This is because the cannabinoids found in hemp are well-known to be fat-soluble.
Common oils used to make CBD oil are olive oil and MCT oil. Olive oil is used for its rich flavor and good fatty-acid profile, as it is high in omega-3 fatty acids and has a very low saturated fat content.
MCT (Medium-Chain Triglyceride) oil is an oil that is typically derived from coconut or palm kernel oil. MCT oil is popular because it is easily digested and absorbed into the bloodstream. This means that it may help increase the absorption and utilization of CBD and other compounds in the oil. MCT oil is also commonly used for people who have trouble digesting oils. Athletes also like MCT oil because it provides quick and sustained energy.
What is hemp oil?
Hemp oil generally refers to an oil that is made from pressing the oil from hemp seeds. This is done in a process similar to how other oils, like olive, grapeseed, or canola, are made.
Hemp seed oil is very nutritious, and claims many health benefits, from weight loss to heart health to hormonal balance. It is also used for skincare and to promote hair growth.
Hemp seed oil does not contain any of the phytocannabinoids found in hemp flowers. Therefore, hemp oil does not contain CBD, THC, or any other similar compounds.
How is Danodan different?
Danodan Hemp Flower Infusions don’t use oil to extract all of the compounds from our whole hemp flowers. Instead, we use organic vegetable glycerin, a unique base that is not commonly used in CBD products.
We love using glycerin for so many reasons! Here are just a few:
- Glycerin gently extracts all of the compounds from our hemp flowers
- Unlike oils, glycerin is completely water-soluble, so it is easily added to food and drinks
- Glycerin is very easy to digest and absorb, meaning you get more from your CBD
- Glycerin is naturally sweet, so it balances the herbal and earthy flavor of our hemp flowers for a delicious experience
In addition to our glycerin extraction, our higher-potency yellow- and red-label products have an additional high-potency hemp extract, made from pure organic hemp flowers and organic cane alcohol.
What about CBD isolates? How are those water-soluble?
CBD isolates are made using a very intense process to strip the CBD away from the hemp plant by using aggressive processes or harsh chemicals. The CBD is then isolated as individual molecules and suspended in water. Although the CBD doesn’t actually dissolve in the water, the isolated molecules are so small that they suspend between the water molecules, giving the impression that they are water-soluble.
Also, CBD isolates only contain CBD, not any of the beneficial plant compounds. In nature, these various compounds work in concert with one another, creating an additive effect known as the Entourage Effect. CBD isolates don’t provide this effect since they only contain the individual molecules.
In Conclusion
Because it is such a widely used term, it is important to ask, “What is CBD oil? What about the other kinds of hemp and CBD products I see on the shelf?”
CBD oil is a broad- or full-spectrum extract that uses food-grade oils like olive or MCT oil. These oils extract all of the fat-soluble cannabinoids and plant compounds from hemp.
Hemp oil, on the other hand, is an oil made from the seeds of the hemp plant and contains no cannabinoids like CBD or THC. It is more commonly used as a food or beauty product.
CBD isolates use a highly processed extract that is just CBD molecule. They contain none of the other beneficial plant compounds found in full-spectrum formulas.
Danodan Hemp Flower Infusions are uniquely made with whole hemp flowers and organic vegetable glycerin, for true water-solubility and full-spectrum cannabinoids. Our patented process helps you enjoy all the benefits that therapeutic hemp has to offer!
