Shrunken Head CBD Apple Cider

It’s spoooooky season! There are so many wonder-fall recipe ideas that we love (see what we did there?), but this scary shrunken head cider is definitely our new favourite.

With only 3 main ingredients, this makes for a great activity to enjoy with friends or family. We used a store-bought cider for this iteration, but if you have your own hot cider recipe we highly encourage you to make your own!

All you need is:

  • 5-8 large apples (we used Honey Crisp, but your own local organic varieties will work great too)
  • Warm apple cider (we used this spiced cider mix, but this link here is a great recipe option if you plan on making your own!)
  • Danodan Calm Tincture
  • Cinnamon sticks & whole cloves (optional, adds extra spice elements and looks pretty in a punch bowl!)
  • Carving tools, such as a pairing knife or melon baller

Method:

  • Preheat oven to 250F
  • Peel apples, then slice in half and carefully remove seeds and core
  • Carve faces into the rounded sides of the apple halves (get creative!)
  • Place apples flat-side down on a parchment-lined baking tray and set in the oven
  • Bake for 1.5 to 3 hours. Check on the apples from 1.5 hours to ensure you reach the desired level of ‘shrunken’, as this will vary based on the size of the apples used. Once satisfied with their condition, remove tray from oven and set aside to cool.
  • Warm up your apple cider, pumping in the desired amount of Danodan and stirring thoroughly. We recommend at least one pump per serving for best results.
  • Add in your floating apple heads, and voila!

The shrunken heads can be stored safely in an airtight container in the fridge for approximately a week, but will continue to shrivel the longer they are left uneaten.

If you try out any of our blog recipes yourself, please share your photos and videos with #danodan so we can see your amazing work!
