Is it December already?!
We know the year has flown by, and it’s hard to believe Christmas is just around the corner.
It’s easy to put ourselves on the backburner at this time of year while we run around buying presents for loved ones, planning family events and attending work parties.
Here are five of our favourite ways to stay sane and look after yourself during the silly season!
1. Buy yourself a gift
This seems obvious, but with our wallets and purses getting tighter each year it seems like a difficult essential to budget in.
That’s right, we called it an essential.
It doesn’t have to be anything big. Maybe you buy yourself a fancy pastry on the way home from work, or book that massage you’ve been putting off for months. Maybe you buy yourself some Danodan Calm for the silly season (shameless plug, we know). You’ve made it to the end of another year, and we believe that’s cause for celebration. Treat yourself!
2. Shop Sales!
The mad scramble for Christmas gift shopping can be a massive source of stress, especially as the cost-of-living continues to rise, but it doesn’t have to be! With massive sales occurring on Black Friday and Cyber Monday each year, it’s worth shopping early for the time and money peace-of-mind.
Not an early bird? Don’t stress! Plenty of sales occur right up until Christmas, so if you find yourself leaving your gift-grabbing until the last minute, they’ve got you covered. Some stores also run big post-Christmas sales to take advantage of- Danodan is running our 25% off storewide sale until the end of January, plus free shipping anywhere in the US!
3. Limit your events!
It can be so hard to set boundaries and say no, especially when every branch of your family and friends has a different event they want you to attend. Christmas can become exhausting if most of it is spent transiting between parties, despite the joyous nature of the occasion.
Our solution? Two family events MAX.
If other invites come about, we can politely decline or offer to attend another year, but the holidays are far more relaxing when we aren’t worried about rushing around town. You can adjust this rule to accommodate the lifestyle that suits you best, but if you’re like us, we love to spend the holiday with full bellies and merry conversation in one place.
4. Make your own traditions!
Our favourite way of treating ourselves every Christmas is to set a time that belongs just to us. In the morning we have family over to celebrate, but in the afternoon everyone leaves the house. We spend that time baking cookies, listening to our favourite music, taking a long bubble bath, and spending some quality time with just ourselves. This year we’ll be accompanied by some wine infused with Danodan Calm, and the evening will be spent doing whatever we like!
5. Paper plates and cutlery!
Okay, we’re being a little bit silly with this one. The last thing we want to do on Christmas Day is spend hours in the kitchen tidying up, especially with a full belly. These compostable and recyclable options make cleanup a breeze, with the added bonus of no broken glassware when the spiked eggnog starts to hit (ps, our favourite is Southern Comfort Eggnog with a little bit of Danodan Enhanced and some rum- yummy!).
From all of us at Danodan, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
